Our Standards
Every piece on Fibre Closet passes a three-layer standard before it earns a place in the closet: fiber composition, material quality, and curated style. Our standards exist to remove the guesswork, so the vetting is done before you arrive. What's left is the best part, choosing what to make yours.
Layer 01
90% Natural Fibers
Every garment is evaluated on its fully disclosed composition. Where brands break out the shell and lining, each layer is held to the 90% on its own. Finishing details sit outside the count: we evaluate the shell and lining, not the buttons, trims, or fringe. Our approach is intentional, not rigid: a small percentage of synthetics is allowed where it meaningfully improves fit, structure, longevity, or comfort.
Tier I
100% Natural Fiber
The disclosed composition is made entirely from natural fibers.
Tier II
95–99% Natural Fiber
A small measure of functional fiber adds structure, stretch, durability, or detail without altering the feel or integrity of the garment.
Tier III
90–94% Natural Fiber
Our minimum threshold to allow greater flexibility in shape, stretch, and construction.
WHAT COUNTS AS A NATURAL FIBER
Natural fibers come from two sources: plants grown from the earth, and fibers derived from animals. They breathe, regulate temperature, and evolve with wear.

DOES NOT QUALIFY
Synthetics — polyester, nylon, acrylic, elastane. Plastic-based fibers engineered for stretch, resilience, or durability.
Semi-synthetics — modal, viscose, lyocell, bamboo rayon. Plant-derived but chemically regenerated in processing. Neither counts toward the 90%. Both may appear within the remaining balance, where they serve comfort, stretch, structure, or durability, but never as the reason a piece earns its place.
All natural fibers are welcome. This list will evolve as we do.
Layer 02
Fiber Quality
Beyond composition, we look at the quality of the fiber itself: its grade, its source, and how it’s been treated. We prioritize materials that promote exceptional feel and wellness, and that wear beautifully over time.
Today, this layer works from what brands openly share. Full transparency around sourcing and processing doesn’t yet exist across the industry — so we favor the brands that disclose more, and we’re clear about where the information ends.

The Premium Fibre Tag
Select pieces on Fibre Closet carry a Premium Fibre tag. It appears when a brand openly discloses a higher-grade version of a natural fiber — longer-staple cotton, finer merino, elevated cashmere grades — distinctions that shape softness, durability, and how a garment wears over time.
The tag reflects material transparency provided by the brand; it does not imply independent testing or verification by Fibre Closet. It exists to help you make more informed choices.
Layer 03
Curated Style
Natural fibers are just the beginning. Every piece earns its place through design, chosen for how it serves you: how it fits into the wardrobe you already own, how many settings it moves through, how it will read years from now.
We look for timeless silhouettes over trends and season-spanning wearability over single-season statements. Cut, color, drape, and proportion are weighed on every piece, the quiet details that decide whether a garment gets reached for or passed over.
Most of what we carry is intentionally simple: clean, versatile bases that mix and match without effort. The rest is there to create interest, whether it’s an elegant knit lifted by an unexpected color or a beaded cuff on an otherwise quiet sleeve. A clean base leaves room for your finishing touch — a belt, a scarf, a brooch, the right shoe. The foundation is ours to curate. The style it becomes is yours.
Material decides how a piece feels. Design decides how you feel in it.
Our Commitment
An Evolving Standard
We’re firm where we can be and honest where we can’t.
The 90% threshold holds true today, on every piece. The deeper layers, how fibers are grown and materials are dyed and finished, deserve the same rigor. However, the industry doesn’t yet offer the transparency to define them. We work from what brands disclose, and we say so plainly. If we learn a composition isn’t as disclosed, the piece comes down.
As Fibre Closet grows, so will this standard: more definitive, more comprehensive, reaching further into the making of what you wear. We intend for it to become a benchmark brands want to meet — shaped by what you want to know.
